time heals all wounds

Choosing to Heal Now…

“We do not heal the past by dwelling there; we heal the past by living fully in the present.” ~Marianne Williamson.

This week I would like to talk to you about the concept of being in the moment.

You would have heard about being present and how important it is.

What I want to do, is put it in context with regards to healing yourself – of an emotional issue, situational issue, through stress, or relationships.

Listen to me, Dr Claire Maguire, below to find out more…

We often think that all of these issues that have happened in the past, all this baggage that we are carrying around with us, can all feel too much and we put off any opportunity that we have to make a change or make a difference.

The whole idea of being in the moment is that at any moment we can make a decision that we can heal ourselves. I am really talking around emotional healing and that can lead a physical healing but really with the idea of issues with the mind. The mind plays so many tricks with us and so many crazy stories. We start to believe those stories are actually true and that we can’t make any difference or change.

I want to tell you that being present, really deciding that this is the moment you are going to take to make a difference about the story you tell yourself, the emotions that you are feeling and the label you give to those emotions, the way that they feel in your body, you can take an action to change them.

That can happen right now because you just made the decision that is what you are going to do.

When we are thinking about healing, it may or may not work. That might sound like a negative thing to say after just talking about how we can have a moment to change something, but what I want to bring to your awareness is that we can say ‘I am going to take this moment, I am going to change. I am going to heal. I am going to let go of the trauma, let go of all the childhood issues that have been affecting me of the situation that I am in. I am going to look at ways to deal with stress that I am undergoing currently.’

That is brilliant, we have made the decision to do something. We bring in some techniques, we bring in different ways, different modalities of healing, breathing, what ever it is that you are going try and give it a go – but it may not work!

I want to let you know that you haven’t failed because we have another moment.

What often then happens is that someone will bring something in, they will try to make a change. Change isn’t the easiest thing to do but it is very worthwhile, but you have to keep going. So when someone tries to do something, but it doesn’t work, then they give up and then they fall back into old patterns of behaviour.

They think ‘well I gave it a go, I am never going to be healed. I am not ever going to let go of this trauma’ not really realising they will have another moment.

You have another moment where you can make a decision to try it again, or I can try something new. Moment by moment by moment – you always have a choice to heal whatever trauma or what ever issue is going on within your life.

So there is a certain amount of ease you can have towards treating yourself. You don’t have to make it difficult. You don’t have to make it hard. You don’t have to make it excruciatingly painful to do something. You can decide that this is a moment, I am going to make a difference. I am going to see whether that works and if it doesn’t, I am not going to give up on myself. If it does, I am going to carry on and I am going to make another choice in the next moment.

That’s how we are being really present with our healing, moment by moment by moment by moment.

You will suddenly realise with a month or two months or three months or within a year, two years, three years, you will suddenly be completely different. You will have let go. You would have healed from what ever situation you are finding yourself in as long as you promise yourself that you take it moment by moment.
