About Lesson
We need to establish what the goal is for your client when it comes to sleep. This can be the bigger picture vision they hold for themselves when it comes to good sleep and also smaller goals which they set along the way to achieve good sleep on a regular basis.
With Your Client:
- Open up a discussion with your client as to what they want to achieve.
- Write out the smaller goals (steps) they are going to take which they can tick off as and when they do them.
- Work out why these goals are important to your client which helps to establish motivation.
Examples of Goals
- Setting a time to go to bed and keeping to it consistently.
- Moving electronics out of the bedroom.
- Replacing alcohol with a soothing bedtime drink.
- Reading a book instead of watching TV.
- Writing out a worry list and a gratitude list.
What else could be an example of a sleep goal?
