What are the first thoughts your client is having when they wake up?
Are they “I am tired, exhausted, stressed, I don’t want to do anything today, I want to say in bed…” and tend to be more negative. How do these thoughts influence the rest of the day?
If we wake and prime the day by thinking what needs to be done today, what are my objectives, what is going on at work, with family, with myself… we are thinking ahead and telling yourself you have got this, you are going to do well, you are looking forward to the day. In many ways this is creating affirmations as you affirm thoughts to yourself for the day.
These don’t have to be written out but to take 5 minutes lying in bed to think/affirm your day.
We can also take a moment to ask the questions:
- “How would I like to feel today?”
- “What do I need to do so I can feel that way?”
Create a moment to set yourself up with your thoughts, with how you want to be and how you want to feel.
This is priming the day and priming it for the positive.
