About Lesson
It’s worth checking in to see if the body is actually tired when you go to bed, because if it isn’t then it may be hard to sleep! This is why exercise is useful, as when we exercise, we build up adenosine and this helps to increase our sleep drive and appetite for sleep.
Whilst this isn’t a prescription for what kind of exercise an individual needs to do, an evening walk could help especially if someone has been sat in front of the computer all day.
Otherwise ask your client:
- Are they sat a lot through the day?
- Do they feel physically tired?
- How do they like to move?
- What exercise do they enjoy?
Work together to make an actionable plan to bring more movement into their day and see if it helps to build up their sleep drive and ensure a better night’s sleep.
